More about Us

Members gathering for a chat after meeting. The Clevedon Local Meeting is located at 15 Albert Rd. Clevedon, BS21 7RP. The Meeting house is about 150 metres from the Six Ways roundabout (view the map).

We are a small to medium sized meeting with an attendance of between 13-20 people at any given time. Our Meeting is based on silent worship from which brief spoken ministry may be offered by anyone present.

We hold our weekly Meeting for Worship at 10:30am to 11:30am every Sunday followed by informal chat over some tea/coffee.

On the second Sunday of every month we hold a childrens meeting in a separate room until the last 10 minutes of regular worship when the children join the adults and share what they have explored in their meeting. We have a clear safeguarding policy and all adults taking the children's class have been CRB checked.

From time to time also hold a shared lunch after worship has ended. People are encouraged to bring a dish of something to share, though there is always enough to go around.

On the first Sunday of the month at roughly 12:00 we hold a Meeting for Business where Members and regular Attenders are encouraged to discuss the business of the Local Meeting. We have close links to Quaker meetings at Weston-super-Mare, Claverham and Sidcot, the four meetings forming North Somerset Area Meeting for the purposes of managing our finances and for examining common Quaker concerns. We also share events with Portishead local meeting. Regional day conferences are held twice a year, which is attended by members from Quakers Meetings across Bristol, Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire. Annually, Quakers from England, Wales and Scotland meet as 'Britain Yearly Meeting', either at Friends House in London or as a residential gathering on a university campus.
