Vigil for Ukraine
65, 06 3, 2022 A vigil praying for a just peace in Ukraine was held at the Peace tree on the seafront (near the bandstand) on Saturday 12th March 2022 at 12.00 noon. We welcomed around a hundred people of all ages, gathering at 11.50 and lit a candle at midday. We held in the light all those who are suffering, the families of all who have lost their lives, the trauma and uncertainty of all who have lost their homes and all who had to flee and have become refugees. The silent vigil ended at 12.15 and groups of those who gathered engaged in quiet discussion with some coming to the Meeting House for light refreshments. Sadly, the war continues and we held another vigil on the first anniversary of the conflict. We continue to hold in the Light all who have suffered as a result of the war.
